New A Harmless Project Featuring Bead & Reel!

I recently posted about my experience at their fair trade fashion show with The Peace Exchange (details on that are on my blog here) and I’m so happy to team up with Bead & Reel for A Harmless Project. I absolutely adore this boutique because it’s so much more than a shop. Their fair trade fashion show is a great example of their diversity. They teamed up with The Peace Exchange, an organization that works in developing nations to create economic growth, sustainability, entrepreneurial training and more, to raise awareness about Fair Trade. If you don’t know about The Peace Exchange, take a minute to see their website and learn a little more about their amazing work.

Bead & Reel is an entirely vegan owned and operated company advocating for more holistic living "to minimize our footprint and our impact on everyone and everything around us.” With categories like Fair Trade, Made in America, Organic, Recycled, Upcycled, Zero Waste, Biodegradable, Vegan, and Giving Back/Charity, there’s something for everyone.

Owner and founder Sica Schmitz started Bead & Reel in 2014 to be not only a marketplace for ethical conscious style mavens but also as a community for ethical designers, activists, eco-conscious consumers, and more to accelerate positive (cruelty-free) change. Their collection features some of the most progressive and compassionate brands, companies, and designers available today and offers chic options for all fashionistas.

And they ship internationally! Speaking of shipping, their eco-friendly packing materials are recycled (and recyclable), upcycled, biodegradable, reusable, and renewable (made from renewable materials!) are ahhmazing. Love all the little eco touches.

Oh, and they have special services too! Their ethical style box is a specially curated collection of five items for you to try with $50 rewards toward your purchase, and free shipping both ways. You’re only charges for the clothes you keep! They also have ethical closet audits which can sound a bit overwhelming but it actually the opposite; they’ll help you transform your wardrobe into an ethical amazing assortment of goodies. I wish I knew about that when I first went vegan, it would have saved me months of endless internet searches and countless hours on Instagram!

Now for the goodies from this episode of A Harmless Project:

The Riley Herringbone Moto Jacket from Amour Vert is my pick for the Fall transition. Amour Vert is a women owned business hailing from San Fransisco. This jacket is 100% cotton and machine washable (talk about easy maintenance!). It’s super soft fabric make this casual jacket live-in comfortable and the oversized collar and zip front add lovely stylized details.

Sinclair Boots from Nicora Johns are handmade in Los Angeles made from locally sourced microfiber and feature a wooden heel. They’re water proof, full lace-up, black boots with grippy bottoms so no sliding around! Nicora Johns is a completely vegan, woman-owned business here in LA.

I paired the jacket and boots first with ripped jeans from Current/Elliot and a lace tank from WYLDR. Then, I kept the same tank and switched out the jeans for a circle skirt (also from Amour Vert) and thigh high socks from Alice & Olivia.
